Francesco Speroni

Francesco Enrico Speroni ( born October 4, 1946 in Busto Arsizio ) is an Italian politician of the regionalist - right-wing populist party Lega Nord ( LN) and Member of the European Parliament.

Life

Speroni worked from 1970 to 1997 as a flight engineer. In addition, he completed a degree in political science in 1975 and 1999 in Law from. After he had been in 1980/81 Chairman of the Association of Flight Engineers, he was from the eighties, a member of the city councils of Albizzate (1986 ), Samarate ( 1987-90 ) and Busto Arsizio ( since 1990). From 1991 to 1994, Speroni head of the party Lega Lombarda, which, however, was connected at that time already with the Lega Nord.

Already in the 1989 European elections Speroni was first elected to the Northern League to the European Parliament, where he was part of the Rainbow Group. In 1994 he left the European Parliament again to become Minister for Institutional Reform in the first Berlusconi cabinet. This office he held until 1995. From 1992 to 1999 Speroni was also a member of the Italian Senate from 1996 to 2000 he was a member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the WEU.

In the European elections in 1999 Speroni was re-elected to the European Parliament, of which he is a member since then. In 1999, he was co-chairman of the Technical Group of Independent Members; after its dissolution, he was from 2001 to 2004 Non-attached Member. 2004, joined the Northern League of Eurosceptic Independence / Democracy Group, but was again in 2006 excluded from it.
