Francis Thomas Bacon

Francis Thomas Bacon ( born December 21, 1904 in Billericay, † 24 May 1992, Little Shelford ) was an English engineer.

From 1925 to 1940 Bacon worked at the C. A. Parsons & Co. Ltd.. in Newcastle upon Tyne. After that, he was at King's College in Cambridge worked and worked on the development of alkaline fuel cells. In 1959 he introduced the first 6- kW fuel cell, which was based on the principle of alkaline fuel cell. Then based fuel cells found later in space as part of the Apollo program application.

Bacon was awarded the Order of the British Empire and was a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the Royal Society. In 1991, he received the first Grove Medal.
