Francisco Keil do Amaral

Francisco Caetano wedge Coelho do Amaral ( born April 28, 1910 in Lisbon, Portugal, † February 19, 1975 ibid ), mostly Francisco Keil do Amaral, was a Portuguese architect and photographer.

He was the son of Alfredo Keil, composer of the Portuguese national anthem. After his studies at the Lisbon Art College he was house architect of the Lisbon City Council and designed in the forties and fifties, many public buildings. Mention may be made especially with his wife, the painter Maria Keil ( Marriage 1933), designed Lisbon metro stations as well as the parks of Campo Grande, Monsanto and Parque Eduardo VII He also designed the airport building in Lisbon and Luanda ( Angola).

For his work as an architect Keil do Amaral received at the World Exhibition in Paris in 1937, for which he designed the Portuguese Pavilion, the gold medal. He wrote several works on architectural theory.
