Franco Maria Ricci

Franco Maria Ricci ( born December 2, 1937 in Parma ) is an Italian designer and publisher specializing in art and design books.

Vita

Ricci is from an aristocratic family with Genoese origins, studied geology and worked as a petroleum geologist for Gulf Oil before 1963 in Parma, a graphic design studio opened in which he designed, for example, posters, catalogs, calendars and trademarks. He founded in 1965 the publishing house Franco Maria Ricci ( seat is Milan ), which was particularly well known for his appearing from 1982 art magazine FMR. The journal contains essays by renowned art historians or writers and emphasizes high quality of the illustrations and photographs. It is published every two months in Italian, German ( from 1986 ), English, French and Spanish, is initially available only through subscription and is based in Milan. He also owns his own bookstores, especially in Italy.

In the meantime ( 2009) he has retired from the publishing business and has been working since 2005 on the design of an extensive maze, a labyrinth. as part of its planned museum. 2002 merged with his publisher, founded in Florence in 1992 Arté group and is in Bologna since 2004. His art collection, including a large collection of books on how Ricci from Parma typographer Giambattista Bodoni was derived, issued in 2004 in the castle ( Reggio ) of Colorno at Parma.
