Franco Tancredi

Franco Tancredi ( born January 10, 1955 in Giulianova, Teramo, Italy ) is a goalkeeping coach and former Italian football goalkeeper.

Tancredi began his career with his hometown club Giulianova Calcio and moved to AC Milan in 1974, but came in Serie A for Milan never used. After a season in Rimini Calcio in 1977 he joined the AS Roma, where he stood until 1990, 282 times in Serie A between the posts. In the 1982/83 season Tancredi won the Scudetto with Roma, the Italian championship. He also won with the AS Rome four times the Coppa Italia. After the season 1990/91, where he still six times was used for the AC Turin, he ended his active career. For the Italian national football team, he came between 1984 and 1986 to twelve inserts. He was reserve goalkeeper behind Giovanni Galli in the Football World Cup 1986 in Mexico, but had no use in his only World Cup. He also took as goalkeeper of the Italian Olympic Team participated in the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In 1987, he lost in a league match against AC Milan at the San Siro by a fireworks litter of Milan fans consciousness. It was determined by the doctors a respiratory arrest. However, Tancredi could be resuscitated in the stadium and survived.

After his playing career in 1992 he became goalkeeping coach at AS Roma. In 2004 he followed the former Roma coach Fabio Capello to Juventus. Since then he has worked continuously together with Fabio Capello. So in 2006 /07 Real Madrid and since 2007 with the English national football team. As goalkeeper coach, he participated in the Football World Cup 2010 for England.
