François-André Isambert

François -André Isambert ( born November 30, 1792 in Aunay -sous -Auneau in the Eure -et -Loir, † April 13, 1857 in Paris) was a French lawyer and politician.

Isambert devoted himself to the study of law and was deputy of the Colonies, 1818 Advocate of the Supreme Court in Paris. As a deputy, he distinguished himself particularly by his efforts to improve the legislative, administrative position and the abolition of slavery in the colonies, and by his attacks on the Catholic Church. Against the " Juliordonnanzen " of 26 July 1830, he protested in the name of Advokat article. Later he went to one of the first to the town house, where he was appointed by the Provisional Government, which came together as director of the Bulletin des lois. Appointed on 27 August with the Council of the Supreme Court, he edited the durchgesehene of the 221 charter and resigned in October 1830, first as a representative of Chartres in the Chamber of Deputies, and later as deputy of Luçon, where he voted for the Ministry Laffitte, but under the Ministry Périer the opposition transgressed.

After the February Revolution of 1848 from the department of Eure- et- Loir in the French National Assembly elected, he counted himself in the Constituent Assembly to the right political spectrum. In the elections for the legislature but was not re-elected. In 1854, he converted to Protestantism.

He was regarded as a staunch opponent of the Jesuits and have been working since the 1830s as an avowed abolitionist and co-founder of the Société pour l' abolition de l' esclavage for the liberation of slaves in the West Indian colonies of France a.

Isambert was also the founder and long -time employee of the " Gazette des Tribunaux " and took an active part in the donated by Wolowski "Revue de législation et de jurisprudence ".

He died April 13, 1857 in Paris. His son Emile Isambert (1827-1876) devoted himself to the medical profession and emerged as the author of multiple medical works, which are primarily concerned with tropical diseases (eg: "Parallel des maladies générales et des maladies locales", Paris 1866) employed.
