François Gaussen

Samuel Robert Louis Gaussen ( born August 25, 1790 in Geneva, † June 18, 1863 in Geneva) was a Swiss theologian and writer.

Louis Gaussen was pastor since 1816 in Satigny in Geneva, as the struggle of the devout began against the local state church. In 1832 he was deposed by the Geneva State Council because he had donated by Merle d' Aubigné, Jean -Henri, for the maintenance of the old Calvinism, the theological school; to this, he worked from 1836 until his death June 18, 1863 were made as a teacher.

Of his many writings is to lead: Le canon of Saintes Ecritures double au point de vue de la science et de la foi, (Lausanne 1860, 2 vols ), German: The authenticity of the Holy Scriptures from the standpoint of the history and faith, ( Hamburg: Oncken, 1870).
