Satigny is a municipality in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland.
Geography
Covering an area of 1,908 hectares Satigny has around 3,000 inhabitants. Satigny is surrounded by the municipalities Meyrin, Vernier, Dardagny and Russian as well as Thoiry and Saint- Genis- Pouilly in the French department of Ain. The Rhone forms the border of the communities Aire- la -Ville and Bernex.
The municipality also includes the villages and hamlets Bourdigny lingerie, Bourdingy -Dessus, Chouilly, Peissy, Peney lingerie and Peney -Dessus.
Economy
Satigny is the largest wine-growing municipality in Switzerland. More can be found in the article viticulture in Switzerland. Since 1976, here also produces the fragrance and flavor manufacturer Firmenich.
