Corsier

Corsier is a municipality in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland.

History

In Corsier remains have been found of lake-dwellings. The oldest date from the Neolithic ( 3856 BC), the most recent are from the Late Bronze Age ( 891-834 BC ).

1297 the site was mentioned as Corsiacum. From the end of the 14th century until 1798 Corsier belonged to Savoy ( Bailiwick of Chablais ), apart from the Bernese revenue from 1536 to 1567. After the French rule in the late 18th century the church was in 1816 over the Canton of Geneva and was merged with the municipality Anières. Since 1858 Corsier is an independent municipality.
