History

Before 1260, the Counts of Geneva had the right to rule in Chancy. He then handed it over to the House of Savoy. Since 1536 Chancy is subject to the City of Geneva and adopted the Reformation.

Chancy was an important transit point of the road from Geneva to Lyon, because here you got to the right bank of the Rhône. Until 1424 a ferry took over the transport. This was then replaced by a bridge. After the demolition of the bridge in 1589 the ferry service to the construction of the new bridge 1874, or about three hundred years later, at the present site in turn received.

Above the bridge and the village is since 1924 the Laufwasserkraftwerk Chancy - Puni.
