Hermance

Hermance is a municipality in the canton of Geneva in Switzerland. It is located directly on Lake Geneva and is bordered to the north by France.

History

In 1271 the city was mentioned as Eremencia. Since 1355 Hermance is one of Savoy. In 1536 the city has been subjected to and reformed by the Bernese and it became a pastor appointed. 1542 Built in 1373 the hospital and the school was founded in 1459 has been rebuilt. 1567 Hermance went back to Savoy. The Savoy Hermance used as a base against the city of Geneva. End of this century the village of wars between Geneva and France on one side and Savoy, and Spain is embossed on the other side. 1589 destroyed the French, the fortifications of the city. 1603, the city had the Geneva passed the House of Savoy after the peace treaty of St- Julien again. 1815 Hermance became a municipality of the Canton of Geneva.
