François Lonseny Fall

François Lonseny case (* 1949 in Kankan ) in 2004 was briefly Prime Minister of Guinea and is currently foreign minister of his country.

Diplomat

Case is one of the Malinke and comes from Kankan to the east of the country. His father's family came from Senegal. In 1976 he received his degree in law at the University of Conakry and belonged from 1977 to 1979 Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Law. He then embarked on a diplomatic career and was in the years 1982-1990. Guinea to the diplomatic missions in Paris, New York, Lagos and Cairo He became director of the Foreign Ministry and since 2000 ambassador to the United Nations in 1996.

Politician

Since 10 June 2002, he was in the reign of Lamine Sidimé Foreign Minister of Guinea. During his tenure, he represented his country in the Security Council, the Guinea 2002 and 2003 belonged to a non-permanent member, during the debates in the run-up to the Iraq war. In the month the war began in March 2003, he was President of the Security Council.

Following the resignation Sidimés on 23 February 2004, he was appointed by Acting President Lansana Conté in 1984 his successor. On 30 April 2004 he and his family went into exile surprisingly, accusing the president to prevent him from economic recovery. In addition, he felt personally threatened. His position at first remained unoccupied, the former Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries Cellou Dalein Diallo was appointed as the new head of government until 10 December 2004.

UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan appointed him in March 2005 as his Special Envoy for Somalia. In this capacity he was responsible for the Political Office for Somalia ( UNPOS ) in Nairobi. In the following months, his task was to mediate between the Somali transitional government and the various factions.

On 5 October 2012, he was again Secretary of State.
