François Remetter

François Remetter ( born August 8, 1928 in Strasbourg) was a French football player.

The club career

Remetter played as a teenager, first in the storm, before he became a successful goalie and in 1947 won his first title: He was with the French world champion selection the military teams. Since then he quickly aufrückte in the French amateur national team, was interested in having a professional club FC Metz for the young Alsatian. Metz, he helped the chances of promotion to the top division ( Division 1 ), where he later also played for FC Sochaux- Montbéliard. For FC Grenoble and Bordeaux, he played in the second division - even though he was already goalkeeper and World Cup participants. Between 1957 and 1960, joined François Remetter annually the club before he returned to his hometown and played four years with Racing Strasbourg. Then it pulled the "mad genius ", as his coach in Metz had dubbed, again to Limoges, before he trailed off his career at Vauban Strasbourg and with nearly 40 years hung the goalkeeper gloves on the nail. France Football put him in October 2006 at No. 10 leaderboard French goalkeeper of all time.

The National Players

Between June 1953 and December 1959 denied François Remetter total of 26 matches in the Équipe Tricolore and was at the World Championships in 1954 and 1958 to the French squad (two World Cup qualifying and two final games). In the 1958 World Cup, he delivered in the first two games from a poor performance and was replaced by Claude Abbes, who was the rest of the tournament in goal.
