Frank J. Grass

Frank J. Grass ( born May 19, 1951 in Arnold, Missouri) is a General of the United States Army and since September 7, 2012 Acting Commander of the National Guard of the United States (English: Chief of the National Guard Bureau, CNGB ).

Education and Career

Grass came right after graduating from high school in 1969, the National Guard of Missouri, where he first served as a commissioned officer.

In 1975, he earned a degree (Associate Degree) in Environmental Technology at St. Louis Community College, Missouri, and pursued a career in the United States Army Corps of Engineers. From 1981, he served there in various uses, including as Platoonführer; In 1985 he was a Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts at Metropolitan State University, Minnesota, 1997, a master's degree in resource planning at Missouri State University.

Service in the rank of general

On 2 April 2004 promoted to Brigadier General, Grass served for two years as deputy director in the Army National Guard Readiness Center in Arlington, Virginia. In 2006 he was promoted to Major General admixed as Director of Mobilization and Reserve Component Affairs in the U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, then from September 2008 to September 2010 as Director of Operations in the U.S. Northern Command on the Peters Air Base in Colorado. It was there then served Grass of September 2010 with the rank of lieutenant-general in turn two years as deputy commander.

On June 29, 2012 U.S. President Barack Obama nominated Grass to succeed Craig R. McKinley (USAF) Chief of the National Guard Bureau. The Senate affiliated promotion to General confirmed the nomination on July 26, the command transfer and Grass' so that eventually followed on 7 September.
