Frank McGuinness
Frank McGuinness ( born July 29, 1953 in Buncrana, County Donegal) is an Irish dramatist, poet and translator.
Life
McGuinness studied English Literature at University College Dublin. After graduation, he worked as a lecturer, first at the University of Ulster and then at the National University of Ireland, Maynooth. He is " Writer in Residence " and since 2007 also professor of Creative Writing at University College Dublin.
His first dramatic success was Factory Girls ( 1982). Shortly thereafter, he probably had his greatest success with the award- winning play Observe the Sons of Ulster Marching Towards the Somme (1985).
His collection of poems Booterstown was published in 1994.
McGuinness lives in Booterstown in Dublin.
