Frank Schaffer

Frank Schaffer ( born October 23, 1958 in Stalin city, today ironworks town ) is a German track and field athlete and Olympic medal winner.

Schaffer was in the 400 -meter run successfully and won at the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow two medals for East Germany: In individual races, he won the bronze medal ( 44.87 s ), and the 4 x 400 - meter relay, he won with the East German team silver medal ( 3:03,4 min, together with Klaus Thiele, Andreas Knebel and Volker Beck).

He also launched at the European Athletics Championships in 1978 in the 400 -meter run, however, different in the run- off.

He belonged to the forward ASK Potsdam and trained with Wolfgang Gerhold. In his playing days, he was 1.88 m tall and weighed 75 kg.

1984 joined Frank Schaffer returned from active competition. In 1980 he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in bronze.
