Frank Schulz (footballer born 1961)

Frank Schulz ( born February 18, 1961 in Remscheid ) is a former German football player and coach.

Career

The playing in midfield Schulz started his Bundesliga career at VfL Bochum; VfL coach Rolf sheepfold brought the prolific league players in the summer of 1983 by Westfalia Herne. In the following four years, Frank Schulz quickly established itself as one of the highest-scoring midfielder in the Bundesliga, about every fourth hit game on average. This section he held in his first season at Eintracht Frankfurt. Beginning of the season set as starting player, he met in his first game for Eintracht in Kaiserslautern and scored the first goal in a 2-2 draw. It should not be the last game -winning goal by Frank Schulz for the team from Riederwald. At the end of the season he finally played in the cup final against his former club VfL Bochum. Frank Schulz played a decisive role in this title, not least because of his two goals in the first round against FC Schalke 04 in Bremen and in the semifinals when he scored the only goal for the 0:1 final score and one of the few counter the Eintracht that evening the way to Berlin paved the finale. In the following season, Frank Schulz came in the Euro Cup Winners' Cup in his only two European Cup appearances against each Sakaryaspor, where he scored a goal in the second leg. Only at the end of this season, Frank Schulz had won his place back in the starting lineup. Finally he succeeded in his last competitive game for the concord of the decisive blow in the relegation against 1 FC Saarbrücken, who secured the frankfurters to remain in the Bundesliga.

After a brief spell at second division VfL Osnabrück Frank Schulz 1990 was committed by Borussia Moenchengladbach. His volley goal in Mönchengladbach 5-2 away win in Leverkusen was elected in May 1991 for the goal of the month. With the Borussia Schulz also reached the final of the DFB-Pokal 1991/92. His pro career he had to quit in 1993 after an injury and moved to Oberliga side Alemannia Aachen. With the Alemannia he reached again the runner-up and rose to the Regionalliga West / Southwest.

After his active playing career he became a coach working at various clubs. Among others, he worked for five years from 2003 to 2008 coach at his hometown club Westfalia Herne, with whom he won the Westphalia Cup 2006. From April 1, 2010 to October 25, 2011, he was coach of the NRW division SSVg Velbert.

In February 2012, Schulz took over as coach during his time division club VfB Waltrop country.
