Frank Tuttle (set decorator)

Frank A. Tuttle, Frank Tuttle (* November 15, 1905 in Pennsylvania; † August 6, 1969 in Glendale, California ) was an American outfitter in the Hollywood movie.

Life

Frank Tuttle called himself much of his career, Frank A. Tuttle, not to be confused with the more well-known non- eponymous film director.

About the early years of the coming of the American East Coast Tuttle little is known; already in the 1930 census he is listed as residing in Los Angeles. With the beginning of the 1940s it is detectable as an art in the service of Columbia Pictures, but worked Tuttle, apart from an unnamed activity in 1967 at the Gregory Peck film The Great Schweiger, at no time as art director ( Production Designer ). For three of his works ( 1001, They called him King and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner ), he received one Oscar nomination.

In his comprehensive three decades of activity Tuttle has equipped over 140 films of all popular genres; since the early 1950s there were numerous obligations for popular television series like Rin -Tin -Tin, Father, it should be the best underwater adventure and My Three Sons. Tuttle died in the midst of filming William Wyler's last film, The embers of violence. Frank A. Tuttle was buried in the cemetery Forest Lawn Memorial Park ( Hollywood Hills ).
