The Frankston Freeway is an urban freeway in the southern Australian state of Victoria. It connects the northern part of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway and EastLink in Carrum Downs with the Moorooduc Highway in Frankston.
History
Beginning of the 1960s was called the Frankston Freeway nor Wells Road Bypass and was a two-lane road with no median strip between the Cranbourne Road and Seaford Road in Frankston. Then she led as Wells Road on to Mordialloc. Beginning of the 1970s was that Wells Road Bypass upgraded to freeway standard and in 1980 they built the rest of the freeways to the Springvale Road parallel to the existing Wells Road.
The as state road 11 (S11 ) numbered street should the numbering of M11 obtained in the framework of the general renumbering of highways in Victoria after the East Link was completed in 2008, but this plan was abandoned.
In the absence of a bypass of Frankston there are often traffic jams on the freeway, especially during the holiday season. 2013 but to a bypass as part of the Peninsula Link deal. Course
The Frankston Freeway starts in Carrum Downs on the southern end of the northern part of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway (S11). There the new Eastlink (M3 ) is also connected, which creates the connection to the Eastern Freeway through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
In the north of Frankston and the Dandenong Valley Highway (S9 ), which runs parallel to East Link encounters, on the Frankston Freeway. A little later the Frankston Freeway ends in the city center of Frankston and enters the two-lane Moorooduc Highway ( S11), which creates the connection to the southern part of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway (S11).
