František Kotlaba

František Kotlaba ( born May 20, 1927 in Vlastiboři, Czechoslovakia) is a Czech botanist and mycologist. His botanical and mycological author abbreviation is " KOTL. ".

Life

After studying natural sciences and pedagogy at the University of Prague in 1957 Kotlaba received a position at the National Museum in Prague. From 1962 to 1990 he was a research associate at the Institute of Botany of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Průhonice. Kotlaba has long been on the editorial board of the scientific journal Mykologické listy and is the author of several books, partly also popular scientific article One of his books, which was illustrated by Frantisek Prochazka, Our fungi has also appeared in German edition under the title. The mycological mycology Česká magazine, for which he gave numerous articles dedicated to him on his 80th birthday in 2007 an issue. Also, a genus of the family of Stielporlingsverwandten was named in his honor Frantisekia.

Research

Kotlabas main research interests are taxonomy, distribution and ecology of agarics and Porlinge. In addition, he has published several works on the fungal protection.
