Frashër ( Albanian: Frashëri; Aromuni Fãrshãr ) is a village in southern Albania in the District Përmet. It is quite secluded in a valley at about 1000 meters altitude on the southern end of the Tomorr mountain range. The village is located around 18 kilometers north of Përmet. However, the approximately one and a half hour drive from the county town stretches over 40 kilometers, some bad roads and around 1,250 meters high ball. The whole community Frashër has 387 inhabitants.

History

Frashër was first mentioned in a Defter the Ottomans for the first time 1431/32. At that time the place was one of only twelve households. Until the 19th century it had grown to 150 houses. Beginning of the 20th century reached Frashër the peak of its development. The place had become almost a small town with 550 houses. While the place in the 1980s had more than 500 inhabitants, it is left largely since the 2000s. Only three more families live in Frashër.

Until the Second World War there were in Frashër an important monastery of the Bektashi. Made famous is the small town by the coming of here Abdyl brothers, Naim and Sami Frashëri who received their first training in the local Tekke of the Bektashi and afterwards during the second half of the 19th century, played a prominent role in the Albanian national movement. Your surname led the brothers from their place of birth. In the Tekke also important meeting of the Albanian national movement took place.

Society

In the village there was a Muslim and a Christian quarters. The Tekke is restored. On September 5, a large festival is held there each.

The museum in the birthplace of Frashëri Brothers in 2005 was in a state of disrepair, was renovated later, but still in a bad condition.

In the village lived many Vlachs.

The Komuna of Frashër includes not only the actual place nor the seven villages Gostivisht, Mican, Verçisht, Soropull, Zavalan, Ogren - Kostrec and Kreshova.
