Frecciarossa 1000

ETR 1000, also V300 Zefiro or Frecciarossa 1000, is a series of Italian high-speed trains, which are produced by a consortium comprising Bombardier Transportation and AnsaldoBreda. 50 trains have been ordered, the first train was presented to the public on 26 March 2013. The train will be referred to as customer ETR 400.

History

At the invitation of Ferrovie dello Stato for the delivery of 50 high-speed trains, Bombardier, together with AnsaldoBreda to a two hundred meter long train with eight carriages. In contrast to ETR 500, the drive gear is no longer concentrated in two power heads, but distributed over the whole length of the train. The train is based on the Bombardier Zefiro for China and the AnsaldoBreda V250. It is designed for operation at 360 km / h during test drives to 400 km / h reached.

Trenitalia awarded the contract to Bombardier and Ansaldo in August 2010. The selection of the two companies was 30.8 million euros per train cheaper than supply Alstom with 35 million euros. The contract has a total value of 1.5 billion euros of which € 652 million on the delivery portion of Bombardier.

In August 2012, Trenitalia before a 1:1 model of the head shape of the train in Rimini, which was then shown at the InnoTrans in Berlin. The train has an active transverse spring, but do not have a tilt system.

On March 26, 2013, the first train in Pistoia AnsaldoBreda work is presented to the public. The train was named after the Italian athletes Pietro Mennea, who died a few days earlier.
