Fred Niblo, Jr.

Fred Niblo Jr. ( born January 23, 1903 in New York; † February 18, 1973 in Encino, California ) was an American screenwriter.

Life

Fred Niblo Jr. came in 1903 as the son of director Fred Niblo and vaudeville artist Josephine Cohan ( 1874-1916 ) in New York to the world. He attended for one year the United States Military Academy at West Point. He then spent five years as Manager of the production company of his uncle George M. Cohan on Broadway. He then worked for the New York Morning Telegraph newspaper. In 1928, he finally went to Hollywood, where he worked as a screenwriter in 1931. A year later he received along with Seton I. Miller an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay for Howard Hawks ' film drama The Criminal Code ( The Criminal Code ), the play is based on Martin Flavin same name. By 1950, Niblo Jr. was involved in screenplays of some 50 films on behalf of various production companies. In most cases, these were to watch movies on a low budget. In the 1950s he also worked for the American television.

With his wife Patricia Henry (1910-1998), with whom he was married until his death in 1973, he had three children, Moira (married Obermeyer ), Ann (married Rupp ) and Dennis. His grave is located in the San Fernando Mission Cemetery in Mission Hills, Los Angeles.
