Fred Niblo

Fred Niblo ( born January 6, 1874 in York, Nebraska, † November 11, 1948 in New Orleans) was an American film director.

Niblo began his career as a stage actor in vaudeville and made ​​his first film in 1916. In his early films, he himself played the lead roles or his wife Enid Bennett. He was one of the 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, which gives annual Oscar. He had his peak in 1925 with the legendary film version of Ben Hur.
