Freda James
Winifred Alice " Freda " James ( born January 11, 1911 in Nottingham, England) was a British tennis player in the 1930s.
Career
Her first title at a Grand Slam tournament won Freda James 1933 the U.S. Championships (now the U.S. Open ) with Betty Nuthall without a fight against the US -Americans Helen Wills Moody and Elizabeth Ryan.
In the years 1935 and 1936 she won along with Kay Stammers the woman doubles in Wimbledon. In the first playoff defeating Simone Mathieu and Hilde Sperling 6:1, 6:4, and in the following year Sarah Fabyan and Helen Jacobs also in two sets 6:2, 6:1.
