Frédéric Beigbeder

Frédéric Beigbeder [ fʀedeʀik bɛgbede ] ( born September 21, 1965 in Neuilly -sur -Seine ) is a French writer, actor, screenwriter and director.

Life and career

Frédéric Beigbeder was born in 1965 the son of a personnel consultant and a translator, a descendant of the noble house de Chasteigner, in the Paris suburb of Neuilly Nobel - sur-Seine. Due to the early divorce of his parents, he developed a strong bond with his brother, Charles Beigbeder, a French entrepreneur of the energy industry and Knight of the Legion of Honour.

Beigbeder studied political science at Sciences Po Paris and was hired after the publication of his first novel Memoirs of a son from a bad home of the international advertising agency Young & Rubicam. There he worked for ten years as a copywriter and Conceptioner. With the publication of his novel Neununddreißigneunzig (99 francs ), he became known on the borders of France and at the same time one of the stooges of the critique of consumerism. More novels followed. In 1994 he established the Prix de Flore for young writers ( named after the famous Café de Flore in Saint -Germain -des- Prés ) into being among the winners Michel Houellebecq and Virginie Despentes. In 2005, Beigbeder was with Alain Decaux, Richard Millet and Jean -Pierre Thiollet guest writers at the Book Fair in Beirut. In 2009 he was awarded for his work Un roman français Prix Renaudot.

Private Beigbeder was for a time romantically involved with actress Laura Smet.
