Frederick House River

Frederick House River is a river in Cochrane District, Ontario, Canada.

It forms the outflow of the Night Hawk Lake. It flows in a northerly direction to the neighboring Frederick House Lake. 10 km north is the Frederick House Lake Control Dam, which regulates the outflow.

Further 10 km effluent are the Wanatango Falls. There is the construction of a hydroelectric power plant in the planning stage. The power plant will be equipped with a power of 4.67 MW. It is to be operated as a hydroelectric power plant with limited storage capacity. It should so be able to hold back the night and on weekends some of the water to fall back in the remaining time on an increased amount of water can. This is a compromise between an optimum energy yield and a minimum possible impact on nature and the water balance.

The Frederick House River flows in a northerly direction and reaches 100 km coming from the east Abitibi River.

The name of the river and located in its proximity former trading post Frederick House (1785-1821) of the Hudson's Bay Company were named after Frederick Augustus, Duke of York and Albany.
