Frederick Karlomuana Timakata

Frederick "Fred" Karlomuana Timakata (* 1936 Emae, † 1995) was a politician vanuatuischer.

Timakata was trained as a teacher and later a pastor. He was for a time worked as a pastor on different islands and then at the Pacific Theological College. In 1971 he was one of the founders of the New Hebrides National Party and in 1973 he became its vice president. In 1979 he became a member of the National Assembly. After independence (1980 ), he was from 1985 to 1988 President of the Parliament, 1988-1989 Minister of Health as well as from 17 February to March 8, 1984 Acting President and January 30, 1989 to January 30, 1994 President of Vanuatu.
