Frederick McCoy

Frederick McCoy (* 1817 in Dublin, † May 16, 1899 in Melbourne ) was a British paleontologist.

In 1850, McCoy was a professor of geology at the former Queen's College in Belfast.

McCoy took in 1854 to a professorship at the University of Melbourne. He became in 1858 the first director of the National Museum of Victoria.

In 1879 he received the Murchison Medal of the Geological Society of London awarded the 1881 Clarke Medal of the Royal Society of New South Wales.
