Frederick XI, Count of Hohenzollern

Friedrich XI. of Hohenzollern († November 26, 1401 ), called " the Elder ", was a Count of Hohenzollern.

Life

Friedrich was the younger son of Count Friedrich of Hohenzollern, called the Strasbourg, from his marriage to Margaret, daughter of Count Burchard V. von Hohenberg - Wildenberg.

After the death of Frederick IX. Friedrich was a senior member of the family. He held the seigniory and provided the Bailiwick Office about the monastery Stetten. He obtained in 1388 the town of Hechingen back that had Bishop Friedrich von Strasbourg appropriated. Frederick was a member of the Lions Federal and joined with this 1382 the Swabian cities collar on. This he succeeded in his service promise to the Württemberg Count Eberhard to solve the Greiner when he came to the league of cities in conflict. In 1401 he granted the town of Hechingen after a town fire a charter of freedom.

Frederick was buried in the Erbgruft of Hohenzollern in Stetten monastery.

Marriage and issue

Friedrich married before January 12, 1377 Adelheid († 1413 ), daughter of Count Hugo von Furstenberg Zindel stone. Adelaide's brother John was the last Count of Fürstenberg - Haslach. After the childless death in the Battle of Sempach the House of Hohenzollern Braeunlingen acquired from his heir. With the main line of Prince Friedrich Berger was therefore still in a long dispute.
