The National Highway 6, better known as Freeway 6, is a highway in Taiwan. The highway is an east -west route of Taizhong after Puli, in the interior of Taiwan. The highway is 38 km long.

Street Description

South of the Freeway 6 Taizhong begins as the sixth interchange the freeway that runs from Taipei to Kaohsiung. The highway has 2x2 lanes, runs along the river Dadu in the East and then through mountainous areas with peaks of over 1000 m. Impressive is the exit after Guoxing, which was built on a high viaduct over the Dadu River. Then reaches a basin around Puli and performs a series of tunnels along the Dadu. The highway then forms a northern bypass of Puli and eventually ends up in the provincial road, which then leads into the mountains.

History

The entire highway was released on 1 September 2009 for the traffic. There are three tunnels, the longest of which 2455 meters is long. The viaduct, which was built for the exit Guoxing, is 68 meters high.

Future

There are plans to continue building the freeway on the east coast of Taiwan after 6 to Hualian. The problem is that the highest mountains of Taiwan are on track with a height of over 3,100 meters and the construction of a tunnel 15 kilometers in length is required. On the other hand, the area is classified as earthquake-prone. Because of the high cost of the plan was postponed. The missing part by Hualian is about 65 kilometers long.
