Puli (Nantou)

Puli (Chinese埔里 镇, Pinyin Pǔlǐ Zhen, W.-G. P'u -li Chen, Peh - oē - jī Po · lí TIN) is a town (镇, zhen ) with 86,000 residents in Nantou County in central Taiwan.

Location

Puli is about 380 to 700 m altitude on the west side of Taiwan's Central Mountains. Located in the northern part of Nantou County community is considered to be the geographical center of the island of Taiwan. The nucleus is located in a Puli from the Mei River flowed through a good 40 km ² surrounded by mountains on all sides basin.

The municipality is the terminus of Highway 6, which since 2009, a link to the West Taiwan Taichung and Nantou in direction. To the east Puli is the starting point of the only road link between western and eastern Taiwan in the center of the island, a mountain pass on the Hualian Hehuanshan in the county. About 20 km south of Puli is the Sun Moon Lake.
