Frida Richard

Frida Richard, a native Friederike Raithel, ( born November 1, 1873 in Vienna, † 12 September 1946 in Salzburg ) was an Austrian actress.

Life and career

The daughter of a painter's room attended a theater school in Vienna. Among her fellow students included Max Reinhardt and Fritz Richard, whom she married in 1898. She practiced her profession at first not, but was an English teacher. Only after she had moved with her husband to Berlin in 1905, she went there from 1908 on on the stage.

Except in Berlin, she also played in Vienna at the Max Reinhardt below to theaters and at the Salzburg Festival. From 1910, she was frequently seen in the film, often initially. Alongside Henny Porten Frida Richard usually embodied concerned mothers or servants and counselors. In such roles, they eventually became one of the busiest actresses addition to the silent film era.

In 1932 she went with her husband to Salzburg, where Fritz Richard died a year later. Frida Richard was also then still often face the camera.
