Friedrich Christian Hermann Uber

Friedrich Hermann Uber Christian ( born April 22, 1781 Breslau, † March 2, 1822 in Dresden ) was a German composer and cantor.

Born as the son of the lawyer and music lover Christian Benjamin Uber Uber Hermann studied in Halle ( Saale) Law and received a musical education at Daniel Gottlob Turk. When Prince Louis Ferdinand, he got a job as a chamber musician.

From 1807, he was first violinist in Braunschweig. 1808 appointed him king Jérôme Napoleon as an opera conductor in Kassel. Since 1814, he has served as conductor of the theater in Mainz since 1816 music director of a theater group in Dresden. From 1818 until his death he was music director of the Cross Church and Kreuzkantor.

About composed French and German operas, interludes, cantatas, a Passion and a Violin Concerto. Stylistically, he was a representative of romanticism.

Ubers Uber brother Alexander (* 1783 in Breslau, † 1824 in Breslau) was a cello virtuoso ( a pupil of John Hunter ) and conductor. From him a cello concerto, overtures, Variations for cello and orchestra, various instrumental pieces and songs have survived.
