Christian Ehregott Weinlig

Christian honor God Weinlig ( born September 30, 1743 in Dresden, † March 14, 1813 ) was a German composer and cantor.

The son of the Dresden City Counsel Christian Weinlig (1681-1762) received his musical training at the Cross School in Gottfried August Homilius and 1765 at the University of Leipzig. From 1767 to 1773 he was organist of the Reformed Church in Leipzig. Since 1780, he was an accompanist of the Italian Opera and organist of the Frauenkirche in Dresden and from 1785 until his death cantor of the Cross Church and the Cross school.

Weinlig has operas, oratorios ( The Christian on Jesus' tomb ), written cantatas ( Augusta), songs, piano pieces and sonatas in sensitive style.

His nephew, Christian Theodor Weinlig was also a composer, cross and later choirmaster.
