Friedrich Clemens Gerke Tower

Friedrich -Clemens Gerke - Tower is the name of the telecommunications tower completed in 1991 in Cuxhaven.

The 230 -meter-high Friedrich -Clemens Gerke - Tower is a not accessible to the public concrete tower of Deutsche Telekom AG for radio and FM radio. He's like the Bremen TV Tower and Telecommunication Tower Münster a replica of the Kiel TV tower.

The tower is named after the pioneer of telegraphy Friedrich Clemens Gerke and was designed by the architect Gerhard roundabout and Günter H. Müller in Kiel.

Specifications

  • The establishment consists of 157 in-situ concrete piles, they are 19.20 meters long and have a diameter of 61 centimeters.
  • The foundation has a diameter of 27.80 m; is 3.50 meters thick and claimed 5,000 m2 of concrete and 200 tons of steel.
  • The shaft of the tower at the bottom of a diameter of 13.10 meters, at the top of 3.10 and consists of 5,000 m3 of concrete and 800 tons of steel.
  • The operating floor is 100 meters high and has a base weight of 1700 tons, with a diameter of 40 meters.
  • The platform has a diameter of about 25 meters.
  • The variation can be up to 0.50 meters.
  • The foundation stone was on 26 April 1990, placed in the presence of Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker, the German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, the Federal Minister of Post and Telecommunications Christian Schwarz- Schilling as well as the Chairman of the German Federal Post and Telecom Helmut Ricke.

On April 9, 1992, the tower was put into operation.

Wireless technology

  • Radio link for about 10,000 voice channels and a range of 60 km ( i.e. to Helgoland). The antennas have a diameter of up to 4 meters.
