Friedrich Schröder

Frederick Schroeder ( born August 6, 1910 in Naefels, Switzerland, † September 25, 1972 in Berlin, full name Friedrich Hermann Dietrich Schröder ) was a German composer.

Life

The son of an engineer from Westphalia and a Swabian mother grew from 1914 in Stuttgart. After graduation in 1927 Schröder studied in Münster ( Westphalia ) Music history and church music. In 1929 he moved to Berlin and continued his studies at the Academy of Music as a student of Paul Höffer continued. At this time he lost by the world economic crisis of his father's legacy. His plan to be a church musician, he gave up and made ​​his way as a copyist. He met Peter Kreuder know and worked as the arranger on numerous film scores with. From 1934 to 1937, he starred with Werner Schmidt- Boelcke as conductor at the Metropolitan Theatre (Berlin -Mitte). Likewise, he was a pupil of the Berlin operetta composer Paul Lincke and conducted here also his works.

1936 Schroeder wrote the first own hit tunes, from 1937 the first own film scores. He also worked for the orchestra The Golden Seven. He then worked for the film again, also wrote several operettas, opera and concert pieces. 1948 he was appointed first director of the music department of the newly formed RIAS Berlin. 1955 received Schröder was the first to Paul -Lincke - ring. In 1957 he became musical director of the Bertelsmann records ring. He was involved in the founding of the Ariola label and reached the return of Zarah Leander to Germany. With whom he produced the first post-war title for Bertelsmann. For years, Schroeder concentrated on his work as a music producer.

In 1964 he was elected President of the Association for the Promotion of German dance and entertainment music. He was co-initiator of a junior seminary for light music at the Hochschule für Musik in Berlin.

Schroeder was married since 1931 with Lieselotte Wieden main and through them the father of three children. From another relationship came another daughter. He was buried in the cemetery Wilmersdorf in Berlin. The tomb is located in the department C3-3-16/17.
