Frigate Captain is a commissioned officer rank of the rank group of staff officers of the Navy. This grade corresponds to the for Army and Air Force Lieutenant Colonel.

History

1898, the rank of the frigate captain was introduced in the German Navy. He came instead of the previously usual " Lieutenant Commander with the rank of lieutenant colonel ." The rank insignia consisted of four sleeve stripes with a star on the shoulder pieces.

Germany

Bundeswehr

Commander in Germany is a staff officer ranks of the German Navy. This rank corresponds in other branches of the armed forces of the Bundeswehr Lieutenant Colonel.
