Fritz Emil Irrgang

Fritz Emil Irrgang ( born May 10, 1890 in Linderode, † December 16, 1951 in Northeim ) was a German politician and member of the Nazi Party, the SA and the SS

Life and career

Irrgang was born the son of a farm manager. After attending elementary school in Sorau he completed a four year apprenticeship as a dental technician, from which he graduated with the assistants exam. In January 1914, he settled with a private laboratory in Bielefeld. From 1914 to 1918 he took part as a soldier in the First World War.

During the period of the Weimar Republic was Irrgang from 1918 to 1924 in various sports associations operate. In 1929 he became a member of the NSDAP and the SA in which he rose to Standartenführer. Subsequently, he attended the local school administration until 1930. Since 1930 he was Gauamtsleiter for local politics in the NSDAP Gau Westfalen- Nord. He also served as chief editor of the National Socialist community, the central journal of the NSDAP for local politics.

Member of Parliament

Irrgang was since May 1924 councilor of the city of Bielefeld and there later head of the city council. He was elected in 1933 on the constituency of North Westphalia in the Reichstag. During the period of National Socialism, he was from 1933 to 1945 member of the Reichstag.

Public offices

Irrgang officiated 1933/34, as Mayor of the city of Bottrop. He was from 1934 to 1938 mayor of the city of Bocholt and 1939-1945 Mayor of the city of Recklinghausen. 1942/43, he took over the management of the official duties of the Mayor in Bottrop. He was also Chairman of the Westphalian community day and board member of the German community day.

After the war he was chairman of the FDP Committee on Local Government.
