Fritz Uhl

Fritz Uhl ( born April 2, 1928 in Vienna, † 21 May 2001, Munich ) was an Austrian singer in the vocal range Tenor.

Uhl was born in the district of Vienna Matzleinsdorf. He studied from 1947 to Elisabeth Radó in Vienna and traveled while still a student with an operetta troupe the Netherlands. In 1952 he made his debut in the title role of Gounod's Faust at the Stadttheater Leoben. Then he sang from 1952 to 1953 in Graz, 1953-1954 in Lucerne from 1954 to 1956 in Oberhausen and 1956 to 1958 in Wuppertal, where he began to sing heroic tenor roles. From 1956 Uhl was member of the Munich State Opera, and had guest appearances at the Vienna State Opera and the Stuttgart State Opera.
