Fritz Zängl

Fritz Zängl ( born December 13, 1914 in Katzbach, now a district of Cham, † May 21, 1942 at Smerdynya / Soviet Union ) was a German skiers and non-commissioned officer, most recently at the rank of a sergeant.

Zängl was a member of the ASV Cham. He served in the Mountain Infantry Regiment 100 in Bad Reichenhall and took the rank of chief huntsman at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1939 as members of the German team in the team competition military patrol run part that took the world title in Zakopane.

As a soldier, he took part in the Second World War to the campaigns against France, Greece, Crete and played against Russia. He was awarded the Iron Cross II and I Class.

Due to the sporting achievements Zängls who scored next to Hans Beer of the most important members of the association, contributes to the ASV Cham for some years the Fritz- Zängl - memory run out.
