Frog Design Inc.

Frog design (formerly frogdesign ) is a company for product design, digital media, software, branding and business strategy. Frog Design was founded in 1969 by Hartmut Esslinger in old climbing in the Black Forest as " Esslinger Design" ( renamed in 1982 ). The acronym FROG is an acronym for "Federal Republic of Germany".

In the 1980s until 1992, the company was led by Thomas Gerlach.

Today, the company is headquartered in California's Silicon Valley, has claims to be world's more than 1,600 employees (as of July 2012) and in addition to San Francisco studios in Amsterdam, Austin, Bangalore, Boston, Johannesburg, Kiev, Milan, Munich, New York, Seattle, Shanghai and Vinnytsya. The Taiwan branch was closed again. frog design belongs since 2006 to Aricent, which in turn belongs to the company, to Kohlberg Kravis Roberts, Sequoia Capital, The Family Office and Flextronics. The relocation of the German subsidiary in Munich took place in 2010.

Frog design had his breakthrough with the design of the company Wega TVs. Other products were early Apple computers such as the Apple IIc and different models of Macintosh series and the needle ImageWriter printer. Esslinger also designed the NeXT workstations and Watches Junghans. frog design has also designed the graphical user interface of the business software company SAP (version 4.6) again.
