Fulco Luigi Ruffo-Scilla

Fulco Luigi Ruffo - Scilla ( born April 6, 1840 in Palermo, † May 29, 1895 in Rome ) was an Italian cardinal.

Life

Fulco Luigi Ruffo - Scilla was the third of six children of Eleonora Galletti and Fulco Ruffo Antonio, 9th Prince of Scilla (Calabria ). He closed on September 3, 1860 from his studies in theology at the seminary in Rome, where he received his doctorate on July 14, 1864, Doctor of Laws ( In utroque iure, churches and civil law ).

On September 20, 1862 he was ordained a priest in Rome and appeared as papal prelate house in the court of Pius IX. , Where he was the title Apostolic prothonotary was awarded on March 13, 1868. On December 28, 1877, he was named Pius IX. Archbishop of Chieti. The ordination as bishop was on January 6, 1878 in Rome by Flavio Chigi instead. He led the office for ten years and devoted himself to pastoral work in Rome so that he was appointed on June 21, 1881 to the Assistant to the papal throne. On May 23, 1887 to December 14, 1891, he was titular archbishop of Petra in Palestine. Leo XIII. sent him on 23 May 1887 as nuncio to Munich, where he was staying on August 25, 1887 to April 3, 1889. He was Prefect of the Apostolic Palace in the sequence. Leo XIII. took him on 14 December 1891 as cardinal priest in the Sacred College, and he received three days later, the titular church of Santa Maria in Traspontina.
