Fundata

Fundata ( German Foundation tablets, Hungarian Fundata ) is a municipality in the district of Brasov in Transylvania, Romania.

Geographical location

Fundata is the southeast corner of Transylvania, directly on the border with Wallachia. To the municipality of traffic- technically important Pasul Bran heard ( Törzburger pass). West of the church is the Piatra Craiului, east of the Bucegi Mountains and the Leaota Mountains are.

History

The region above the Bran and in the region of Törzburger passport was probably settled at about the end of the 17th century. The place Fundata was first documented in 1732. It was a village of Romanian peasants and pastoralists.

Once the location Fundata had heard until the end of the First World War the Kingdom of Hungary, the Principality of Transylvania and Austria- Hungary, it has since become a part of the State of Romania. Parts of the present-day municipality is counted already before 1918 the Principality of Wallachia and to Romania.

July 26, 2010 fell on the municipality from a busy six Israeli officers and a Romanian captain military transport helicopter. The world learned in this context for the first time from the military cooperation between Romania and Israel.

Population

Since the first census in Transylvania is the community - the addition to the town Fundata nor the eingemeindeten villages Sirnea and Fundatica includes - as reported predominantly inhabited by Romanians. In the year 1850 1629 Population ( all Romanians ) were registered. Since the peak in the year 1941 (2284 inhabitants), the population decreased significantly. 2002 referred to by the then 1008 inhabitants of the municipality in 1006 as Romanians and two as Hungary.

Also in the village Fundata itself, the population declined significantly in recent decades. 2002 526 inhabitants ( 525 Romanians, a Hungarian ) were registered.

Traffic

Fundata is located on the mountain pass between Brasov and Pitesti, which corresponds to the European road 574. There are bus connections to Brasov. The nearest train station is around 15 km away in the city Zărneşti on the railway line Brasov Zărneşti.

Attractions

The local church Adormirea Maicii Domnului built in the first half of the 19th century and is a listed building.

Fundata is the starting point for walks in the Piatra Craiului and Bucegi Mountains.
