Funtenseetauern

Massif of Funtenseetauern from west

The Funtenseetauern is 2578.4 m above sea level. NN high marginal summit between Germany and Austria on the north edge of the stone sea, one of the nine mountain ranges of Berchtesgaden Alps. The Funtenseetauern is built with wide shoulders on royal and upper lake to the south of Berchtesgaden. The Funtenseetauern upstream north-west and is connected to it by a ridge is the Stuhljoch ( 2448 m), the steep breaks off with the chair in the wall of the boiler Funtensees.

The usual ascent takes place from Kärlingerhaus in three hours' walk over the chair back and the wall Stuhljoch (difficulty UIAA scale: I, sure-footedness and freedom required). In conjunction with a descent through the Ledererkar, exceeding the mountain are performed. But over the Ledererkar itself, over the North back from Halsköpfl, from the Wasseralm, by the Unsünnigen angle or stony pit ( along with other lesser-known and more difficult variants) of Funtenseetauern is climbed.

In winter, the Funtenseetauern makes a worthwhile ski tour, the usual increase occurs in the wake of the Great Reibn. But even in the context of staying on Kärlingerhaus this summit is often mounted on skis.

The name " Funtenseetauern " is often wrongly interpreted as plural and as "the Funtenseetauern " ( analogous to " Hohe Tauern " ) are used.
