Gabriel Shelly

Gabriel Thomas Shelly ( born October 24, 1968 in Dublin) is an Irish bocce player. As an Irish national team, he participated several times in the Paralympic Games.

Shelly, who since birth has Cerebral palsy, participated for the first time in 1990 at the Boccia World Championships in Assen and won the bronze medal in the team standings. In 1996 Shelly in Atlanta for the first time at the Summer Paralympics in part. Four years later he won his first Paralympic medal in Sydney, namely gold in the individual competition in the competition class BC1. However, he could this success in 2004 in Athens not repeat.

Shelly took in 2008 at the Paralympic Games in Beijing in part. There he won the bronze medal in the individual competition in the competition class BC1 and suggested this to the Chinese Wang Yi. This had defeated Shelly teammates Padraic Moran in the first round the day before. Shelly thus won the first medal for Ireland at the Paralympic Games 2008. 2012 in London, he was unable to repeat that success.
