Gaetano Bisleti

Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti ( born March 20, 1856 in Veroli, Frosinone, Italy, † August 30 1937 in Grottaferrata, Rome province ) was a Cardinal of the Roman Catholic Church.

Life

Gaetano Bisleti received his theological and philosophical education in Tivoli and Rome. He received on 20 September 1878, sacrament of Holy Orders and was then six years canons in Veroli. In 1889 he received the appointment as the canons of the patriarchal Vatican Basilica in Rome. Pope Leo XIII. awarded him in 1901 the title of Pontifical domestic prelates and papal chamberlain. in these offices Pope Pius X confirmed him after his election in 1903. 1905 Gaetano Bisleti was Prefect of the Pontifical Household. Pope Pius X took him on 27 November 1911 as cardinal deacon with the title of Sant'Agata dei Goti diakonia to the College of Cardinals.

Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti was Honour and Devotion Grand Cross - Bailli of the Sovereign Order of Malta and 1914-1937 Grand Prior of the Grand Priory of Rome, the Order of Malta. It was founded in 1915 Cardinal Prefect of the newly established Congregation for Seminaries and Universities. As a cardinal deacon, he crowned on February 12, 1922, Pope Pius XI. Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti represented the Pope at several celebrations as Papal Legate. In 1928, he was charged while maintaining its titular church of Cardinal Priest per hac vice. In 1932 he became president of the Pontifical Commission for Biblical Studies, Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Gregorian University and President of the Pontifical Commission for Sacred Music. Gaetano Cardinal Bisleti died on 30 August 1937 in Grottaferrata and was buried at the Marian Shrine in L' Olivella Veroli.
