The Gandersheimer Domfestspiele place every year from early July to mid-August in Bad Gandersheim. The largest open-air theater in Lower Saxony is one of the most traditional festivals in Germany.

History

The Domfestspiele is attributable to the celebrations marking the 1100 anniversary of the founding of the pen Gander home. In 1952, the historic outdoor game "The Song of Gander Home " by Herta Sellschopp was staged on the Gandersheimer marketplace by Eberhard Gieseler at a large festival week.
