Gare de la Bastille

The Gare de la Bastille was a railway station in Paris. He was in the 12th arrondissement between rue de Lyon and rue de Charenton at the level of the Place de la Bastille. It was opened in 1858 and served as the terminus of the 54.1 km long line to Vincennes and Verneuil- l'Étang. Originally only until the Fort de Vincennes reaching line was extended in 1859 to La Varenne and in 1874 by Brie -Comte- Robert. Finally she gave in 1874 to Verneuil- l'Étang, where there was a link to the route to Mulhouse.

On December 14, 1969, the station was shut down, but parts of the track were included on 14 December 1974 in the network of the RER A. The station itself served ever since for all kinds of exhibitions (eg the French art fair FIAC ). He was from 1984 demolished to make the Opéra Bastille Square.
