Place de la Bastille

The Place de la Bastille is located between the 4th, 11th and 12th arrondissement of Paris and is a major urban hub.

History

Located on the site of the Place de la Bastille fortified royal residence was demolished Bastille as a symbol of the Ancien Régime of 500 workers under the direction of Pierre -François Contractors Palloy after their storming between 16 July 1789 and October 4, 1790 and subsequently sold in blocks of stone. Location and meaning

The 215 m long and 150 m wide, Place de la Bastille is a traffic- important place in Paris. The event is free for everyone and is organized by the association Rollers et Coquillages.

The area northeast of the square has a lively nightlife with many cafes, bars, night clubs and concert halls. In the east, the Rue du Faubourg Saint -Antoine is the main axis of the former suburb of Saint -Antoine.
